Hluboká nad Vltavou Forest District is situated in the Central Bohemian Uplands (450–550 m above sea level), in the South Bohemian Basin (430–450 m above sea level and the Ceske Budejovice basin (380–460 m above sea level). Land area of the Forest District is 68,990 ha. Managed forest land avers a total of 11,400 ha. The area is divided into six forrest territories. The forest stands are composed predominantly of conifers (71 %), followed by broad- leaved tree species (29 %). Within game preserves, broadleaved species constitute approximately 50 % of the trees. The main species are spruce, beech and oak. The Forest District manages 3 hunting grounds:

Poněšice Game Preserve 1,643 ha (Red Deer, Boar, Roe Deer)
Stará Obora Game Preserve 1,511 (Fallow Deer, Mouflon, Wild Boar)
open hunting ground Vltava 1,000 ha (Roe Deer, Wild Boar)

All these game preserves are part of the NATURA 2000 network as special protection area for birds and protected site.

The accommodation of hunting guests and their accompaniments will be provided in hunting lodges, hotels or in private lodgings in the vicinity of the hunting grounds. The price for accommodation in hotels or in private lodgings is subject to the price lists of the respektive facilities. The accommodation prices at the hunting grounds are as follows:

• Room – 20,- EUR

• Entire lodge –  200,- EUR

• Suite – 30,- EUR
